Entry to Peaslake Women's riding with Glower & Liz - April 27th

Ladies! Do you find yourself riding the same riding spots all the time or wishing you could try somewhere new but are unsure if your ability fits the location or where to go once you get there?

Glower Rides are a series of events for women (which guys are welcome to tag along to – no barriers here!) we’re holding this year to help introduce riders of beginner to intermediate levels to new awesome riding spots.

The days of riding are aimed at getting you to progress your riding, try something new and expand your network of riding buddies. Each location you’ll be hosted by a friendly local female, so you can tap into their experience and always have a contact when you want to return.

Please note that these rides are not coaching sessions, but social rides aimed at exploring new places and connecting with fellow riders.

Where are we going?

Second stop on the tour takes us to the Surrey Hills to ride around Peaslake with Marcia Ellis (nearest postcode for sat nav: GU5 9RR). This is a little more of a social pedal than our first more downhill orientated one at Rogate.

Leading the ride will be the Queen of Surrey Hills Herself, Marcia Ellis. Marcia is a local to the area and the founder of the Surrey Hills MTB Chix – a network for women who ride the trails in the area. Second to that, Marcia has experienced great success racing 4X, Downhill and most recently finished the 2018 season as top dog of the UK Gravity Enduro Series in Female Masters. She is fast, very friendly and so much fun to ride with in a social group.

What's the plan for the day?

Surrey boasts something for everyone with such a vast network of trails, however not having “local knowledge” can leave you a little lost on where to go and what trails to hit at a beginner to intermediate level. We’ve tapped into Marcia’s vast knowledge of the area to construct a loop that’ll take us just under two hours to complete and will introduce you to some of the more famous and fun flow trails in the area.

The idea of the loop is to give you a little more orientation and understanding of the area so it should be easier to find things when you return. You’ll also get to meet some regulars to the area and hopefully find yourself some more riding buddies.

So if you fancy yourself a bit of downhill riding with other lady shredders, sign up by adding your entry to the basket and join us for some fun!  Once you've bought your entry, you will be put into the draw for a give-away that will get you some Glower goodies!

What do I need to know?

  • Surrey has a number of car parks, we’re proposing to meet at “Hurtwood Car Park 2” (Aka “Walking Bottom”)  and is just a short walk outside of Peaslake village. This can get busy on a weekend, so please car pool where possible and arrive early. Parking here is free and there is no fee to ride in the surrey hills
  • This event will be more of an XC/enduro loop so bring plenty of water to keep hydrated with and a few snacks to keep you rolling. We estimate approx. 2hrs of riding time
  • As this session is more trail-riding based, we recommend knee pads, comfy clothing for some time in the saddle and an open-face helmet. Per all our events, no helmet, no ride so please come equipped.
  • We will have a mechanic in the group, however please come prepared - bring the appropriate tools, inner-tubes etc that you’d expect to for a trail riding day to ensure you can keep rolling should you experience a puncture or a minor mechanical
  • We’re out in the forest again so there will be no toilets or cafe. You will have an opportunity to pop into the Peaslake village stores at the end of the ride to grab a famous cheese straw and there is also a pub located in Peaslake which you can gather in after riding.
